Of all the IT Certificates that are available, the CompTIA A+ Certification is the most valuable one to have, especially if you are trying to break into the IT Field.

A Summary of A+ Certification Goals from the above website: "Preventative maintenance, basic networking, installation, troubleshooting, and communication skills."

When I wanted to do a career change and get into the IT Field, I had no idea what I needed to do in order to get started. Luckily, at an employment workshop, I met someone who had spent most of his career hiring Computer Technicians. He told me that the A+ Certification was the entry-level certification that people like him were looking for when it came time to hire people for the Help Desk in his company. He told me that he was having a hard time finding people who had the Network+ Certification so that he could promote them into the higher-level IT Careers in his company. He told me to get the A+ Certification first and then to get the Network+ Certification next.

I followed his advice and it worked out well for me.

You think you know it all, but the A+ Certification surprises a lot of people by telling them exactly what they don't know. For me, most of the Network+ Certification and the Network Part of the A+ Exam was completely new material that I had never learned or studied before. It was challenging, but interesting.
